How to get to Munising in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
The city of Munising is set on the southern Lake Superior shoreline in the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan. It’s centrally located in the U.P. and is reachable by car, plane or boat. During the winter season, Munising is well-known for its incredible snowmobiling and many main trails run right through town. When there isn’t snow, some of these same trails can be used by ORVs and make this Upper Peninsula town a popular destination.
Driving
From East or West: Follow Highway M-28 as this road goes directly through town.
From South: Follow Highway US-41 north until you reach the town of Trenary and turn right on to Highway M-67. Stay on M-67 until you reach Highway M-94 and take another right. After several miles, M-94 will intersect with Highway M-28 and you are now on the east end of town. Turn left onto M-28 and you’ll be in Munising in no time!

Located 3 miles east of Munising, this grass runway airport offers an opportunity for small aircraft a great place to land. The airport is closed from November through May 14.
Boating
Munising City Dock & Marina – 906-387-3445
There’s no greater lake than Lake Superior and Munising is right on the doorstep! Traveling to Munising by boat will be an experience you won’t forget. With spectacular views as you follow the shoreline towards Munising and finally reach Munising Bay. The Munising City Dock is located in the heart of downtown and a great place to tie-up.
